Since 1986, the elisa-asile association has been committed to defending the right to asylum, in accordance with the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. The association's mission is to ensure that refugees have access to free, specialized legal advice on asylum matters and effective defense within the framework of their asylum procedure, thereby guaranteeing them the right to a fair trial. elisa-asile also raises awareness among civil society on the issues of asylum and refugees.
Since November 2022, elisa-asile has launched the "Réunir" project to provide comprehensive advice and support to foreigners navigating the family reunification process. This comprehensive support offers legal and administrative guidance, as well as psychological and social follow-up, in collaboration with Geneva-based network stakeholders.
