A critical review of asylum policy in Switzerland: insights, analyses, testimonials, and the efforts of grassroots activists in French-speaking Switzerland

VE 129 / September 2010

Exactly 25 years ago, the first issue of "Vivre Ensemble" (Living Together) came off the press. The summer of 1985 was marked by the first definitive dismissal decisions and heralded a wave of expulsions, resulting from the very first revision of the asylum law.

Throughout French-speaking Switzerland, resistance movements had formed. The goal was to support them by publicizing their actions. It was also about engaging in an information war, which the creators of "Vivre Ensemble" believed was the only way to restore the distorted and manipulated image that certain parties used for their electoral gain.
